.......Elliot Taylor scores goals!! The Non-League Reds put in another fantastic performance on the road, as they beat Chadderton 5-2, in a game that was played at Avro FC's ground due to development work being carried out at Chadderton.
Bobby Murphy and Caleb Jones returned to the line up and Louie Lancaster came in to the centre of midfield. Chadderton started just the better of the two teams but had one wayward effort from the edge of the box to show for it. On 10 minutes, Murphy headed a through ball away and found Lancaster, who in turn found Elliot Taylor. He got the ball out of his feet and struck a 30 yard shot that caught the keeper out and flew into the net. Things got even better for AFC in the 19th minute when Fisher-Jones found Caleb Jones on the right and his whipped cross flew into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. The Reds looked comfortable at this stage, with AFC's defence dealing with everything asked of them.
However, the 1st half took a different turn in the 32 minute, when the officials inexplicably gave a goal kick to Chadderton when it was clear that a corner should have been given. The Reds partially switched off, Chadderton broke and Jack Holt finished well to reduce their deficit. Lancaster was sinbinned for his part in the protests that followed, as The Reds had to play with ten men for majority of the time remaining in the first half. As The Reds coaching staff were trying frantically to get the officials to let Lancaster back on the field, Chadderton were awarded a 42nd minute penalty for handball. The spot kick was converted and the sides went in level at 2-2.
Chadderton had the first chance of the 2nd half, as a shot from the edge of the box flew narrowly over the bar. However, in the 51st minute, a Caleb Jones free kick from inside the centre circle, was headed out by a defender but Adam Moorcroft was on hand to finish superbly with a side foot volley. AFC's hard work was beginning to bring rewards and 8 minutes later Taylor bagged his 2nd of the game and his 8th in as many games, as he glanced a header home.
Caleb Jones was sent through by Moorcroft but saw his effort saved by the keeper. He was not to be denied though and in the 68th minute Jones converted a free kick from the edge of the 'D', to ensure that The Non-League Reds would be going home with the points. He nearly repeated it a few moments later as another free kick just missed the target. Chadderton created a couple of chances that were well saved but The Reds secured another great away win with a fine Team performance. Another bonus for The Reds was the sight off Dan Mahaffy coming on as substitute as he made his first appearance of the season following an injury.
