AFC Liverpool Captain, Adam Moorcroft struck a 92nd minute winner to ensure that the Non-League Reds finished on their highest points tally ever and sent the AFC faithful home with a big smile on their faces.
With nothing on the game except local bragging rights, it was still a well contested match played in very blustery conditions down at Otterspool. AFC started brightly and on 6 minutes Caleb Jones hit a great left footed shot from 25 yards, which South Liverpool keeper Lucas Allan tipped over the crossbar. Barker hit an effort well wide on 15mins for the home side and then hit the side netting four minutes later from a tight angle. Possession was changing hands regularly as both teams struggled with the wind. Matty Brown was battling well in midfield as usual and on 24 minutes, having won 3 challenges in quick succession, he played in Liam Paton who took his time and coolly curled the ball past the keeper to give AFC the lead and score his 7th goal in 15 appearances since re-joining the Club.

Caleb Jones nearly extended the lead two minutes later, as his effort just went wide of the post. Then a strange incident took place on 35 minutes, when Lancaster was sinbinned for AFC and Abdi for South Liverpool, apparently for moaning at each other! As the half was drawing to a close, AFC gave away a cheap free-kick in their left-back position. Declan Gallagher delivered an inswinging cross with his left foot and the ball found it's way into the net. General consensus was that it was an own goal however, it was finally credited to South's number four, Chris Bramell. So all level at the break despite AFC having the clearer chances and defending well.
South Liverpool should have took the lead 10 minutes after the break, when Ste Milne was put through one on one with Harry Campbell. The AFC stopper stayed up well and managed to save with his feet and then gather the rebound. In a half with few chances, Matty Brown had a shot easily saved and South failed to create much following Milne's earlier effort. Harry Wright-Ocana, having another fine game at right-back, played a long pass to put Elliot Taylor through on goal. Taylor lobbed it over the advancing keeper but wide of the goal.

Patrick Wearden came on for the final ten minutes of action, to make his debut after being called up from the U21s. As the game moved into the 2nd minute of added time, it was Wearden who battled well to find Cam Rooney, who in turn passed to Paton. Liam switched play with a long pass to Taylor, who knocked the ball inside to Adam Moorcroft. The good doctor took a touch before rifling the ball into the far corner from 25 yards. The goal was worthy of winning any match and a great way to end the season.

So that's it for another season. A very encouraging 9th position finish, a record number of points, a new individual league goal scoring record for Elliot Taylor and Caleb Jones getting the highest amount of opposition man of the match awards in the Premier Division.
