The Non-League Reds went down to a 0-2 home defeat against local rivals Lower Breck, as the visitors continued their push for promotion. Breck came into the game on top of the form league after a string of dominant performances that had left them in 2nd place, just behind Bury.

It was the visitors who had the best of the possession early on but AFC's hard work and well organised shape, made life very difficult for their opponents. Both sides created half chances with Caleb Jones and Elliot Taylor going close for AFC, and Sam Burns and Jessie Dowling doing likewise for Lower Breck. on 13 minutes Taylor had the ball in the back of the net for AFC but was incorrectly judged to be offside. Morris had an effort from the edge of the box on 20 mins, which Dom Garner collected at the 2nd attempt. The home side and Elliot Taylor were unlucky again four minutes later, when Taylor was put through by a great ball from Dan Mahaffy. Taylor went down under a challenge from the chasing Mitchell but the linesman pointed for a corner and even more bizarrely, the referee gave a goal kick. On the half hour mark, Adam Moorcroft made a run into the area but dragged his left footed effort just wide of the target. As the half drew to a close, Caleb Jones had a fine free-kick tipped over the bar by Roberts in the Breck goal and the game remained goalless at the break.

The visitors came out 2nd half and tried to stamp their authority on the game, with good spells of possession and more aggression in their pressing. Tom Croughan should have done better on 53 minutes but didn't get a clean connection. Dowling had an effort on 61mins that went well wide but on 70mins it was the visitors that broke the deadlock. After a spell of AFC pressure, Connor Millington played a great long ball to Tom Croughan, who (according to the officials) just managed to stay onside, ran through on goal and slotted past Garner. AFC nearly got themselves level a few minutes later when Caleb Jones delivered a pinpoint cross onto the head of Taylor but his header went over the bar. Mahaffy then stung the palms of Roberts with a shot from the edge of the box. With a couple of minutes remaining, substitute Lewis Buckley received the ball in the area, turned and finished to seal the points for the visitors. So overall a little harsh on AFC but another good win for Lower Breck in their quest for promotion, for which we wish them all the best.
